Are you still wondering how the new Nintendo DSi is compared against the Nintendo DS Lite. Read this. It is a side by side comparison of a white Nintendo DS Lite that is priced $129.99 versus the new Nintendo DSi in Matte Black costing $169.99.
The new features of the Nintendo DS series with the DSi are as mentioned below:
- The screens are larger
- It is thinner
- There are 2 cameras. One on the external body and another in the inside hinge points at you.
- There are ten different interactive “lenses” that manipulate your photos through software.
- Nintendo DSi Shop: Nintendo DSiWare just like Wii Shop will also support downloadable games that starts at 200 points (it means $2).
- Nintendo DSi Sound application: gamers can record their voice and even alter it.
- An SD card slot is there.
- Plays AAC format audio off any standard SD Card.
- The DS cards are now hot-swappable. Gamers don’t need to shut down to switch cartridges.
The missing features from the DSi, which is on the DS Lite hardware:
- There is no Game Boy Advance slot (that means it cannot play GBA games).
- There is no rumble/vibration. With no Game Boy Advance slot, the Rumble Pak cannot be used in it. Moreover, it is not built into the DSi hardware either.
One more thing to not is that the DSi is not compatible with import DSi games.

Compare the old and new Nintendo… new features are cool
Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Old white Nintendo DS Lite if compared with the new Nintendo DSi. Then what happens. Just read on.
The brand new Nintendo DSi one has some cool new features. Yes, the camera and SD card slot is not there.
But it pinches to force yourself to purchase all new hardware to enjoy the new games. Now, hope so, it seems that Nintendo could be working on games that play on both the Nintendo DS and the DSi. These “DSi Enhanced” game cards of Nintendo will be playing normally on a regular DS or DS Lite of Nintendo. The additional features of these games are inserted into a DSi.
Nintendo DSi Hardware Group project leader Masato Kuwahara told to the media recently that gamers of Nintendo may be able to “create textures from photographs taken with the DSi camera. If gamers play the same game on the DS, they won’t be able to do that, but still be able to play the game.
Take for example this… gamers can now find a “DSi Enhanced” version of Animal Crossing: Wild World where gamers can take a picture of a pattern and of course it can be translated as new clothing for the characters or new wallpaper for the virtual home.
Yes, going forward… gamers may also now be able to partake in face-mapping for custom characters. This feature adds to the game experience but is not a required element.

Nintando DS Lite can be perfect Mother’s Day gift
Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Are you puzzled about what could be the best Mothers’ Day gift. The answer is why not a Nintendo DS Lite. Nintendo DS Lite is a hand held game system, you knows. It is only priced about $129. It is a great Mother’s Day gift for grandmother. Even for aunty, and is why it can be a Mother’s Day gift.

The original DS Lite was not so handy. It was big and clunky. The display resolution of this gaming system was terrible. Young gamers tossed it in and older users had never bothered with it. But now the Nintendo Corporation has dedicated time and effort to retool the hand-held and here they are.
Nintendo’s hand-held gaming system is now available straightforwardly with deck, documentation, dust cover and also with two stylus or pointers.
The instrument has 2 touch screens that is of high-resolution color displays. The display lighting is also adjustable and has a good battery-saver. The deck of the game is wallet shaped in a clamshell resilient plastic casing. When it is closed, it is only about 3×5 inches.
Gamers can manipulate the images with his or her fingers or with the provided stylus. The on and off is a slide and volume is on the edge of the machine.

Acekard 2.1 for Nintendo DS Lite
Sunday, March 22nd, 2009
The Acekard 2 or AK2 is the same size as an original cart and gamers don’t have to flash their machine or use a passme in order to use this.
Never lost save data
AK2 writes directly to the save file on the MicroSD card and gamers don’t need to manually select the save types nor battery. The save files options are compatible with other flash carts. What is required by the gamers to do is to make sure that the save file has the same prefix name and put it at the same directory of the file. Then gamers can just run the software to use new save file.

Perfect compatibility
AK2 has inherited the best quality of acekard’s products. Gamers can just drag and drop the software on MicroSD card to run.
On the 1st boot it takes some moment to create save file. The loader time after save file is created is too fast.

Celebrate the 100 millionth DS
Sunday, March 15th, 2009
Statistics as on 6 March 2009 reveals that 100 millionth of Nintendo DS was shipped to a distributor or a retailer. This sale figure of 100 million of Nintendo has been achieved in just 5 years. The combined total consists of the three version of Nintendo i.e. Nintendo DS, Nintendo DS Lite and Nintendo DSi sales.
Nintendo was originally launched in late 2004. The system has dual screens, touch screen and voice-recognition capabilities that revolutionized the gaming industry. Many of them were skeptical of Nintendo’s plans, convinced that it would also go the way of Nintendo’s failed Virtual Boy. But, fortunately for The Big N, gamers globally loved the unique gaming experiences of the system and the rest, as all say, is history.

Statistics revealed on December 31, 2008 that there were 83 DS titles whose global shipment exceeded one million. 7 of these titles topped on 10 million. New games such as Nintendogs and Brain Age quickly traveled northward in the sales charts where as the traditional games such as New Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart DS showed why they are still relevant even after all these years.

In five years 100 milliion DS system shipped
Sunday, March 15th, 2009
Many of the critics scoffed with the unveiling of Nintendo DS at E3 2004. The prototype was not at all impressive. There were 2 tiny screens that seemed like a bad marketing gimmick and the touch controls had never been applied to the gaming. It was only limited to the Palm devices. Where are we now? Just have a look. Five years later, with hundred million DS systems shipped claims Nintendo.
That is nineteen million shy of the handheld record set by the Game Boy, and which includes shipments of the original DS, the DS Lite, and of course the DSi editions.
Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo told to the media that consumers have shown their love for Nintendo DS and that too 100 million times over. He also added that they are grateful that people of all ages continue to respond to their products, and they will continue to look for ways to please current gamers and create new ones.

The company also said that their 83 DS games have surpassed one million in sales. GameSpot also confirmed later that seven of the games have sold more than ten million in the global market. Those are Nintendogs, New Super Mario Bros, Brain Age, Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, Mario Kart DS, Brain Age 2, and Animal Crossing: Wild World.

What Happens to DS Lite the market will decide says Nintendo
Sunday, March 8th, 2009
Nintendo has earlier said it is the content to let the DS Lite continue selling alongside the DSi upon the latter’s release. Many is wondering about what the fate of the previous iteration of Nintendo’s successful handheld will be.

In the United Kingdom it seems that the developer is willing to just let the market decide on that. In an interview recently Nintendo UK General Manager David Yarnton said this.
He further said that they will let the market decide. He expects that some people will upgrade, but he also anticipate that they will win over people who were still undecided on DS. He adds that the extra features will help convince them. There’s an extra incentive.
He continues saying, “With the DSi we see multiple consumer types for it. As with everything now, we look at our target market being five to 85, offering different things for different people. The functions of the device really open the platform up to more consumers – it gives the DS format unlimited potential.”
