The Nintendo odyssey
Monday, February 22nd, 2010
Nintendo recently had filed a patent for its portable force feedback. The company also adding to the rumours that Nintendo is working on DS successor.
Last month the company made an amendment to a patent that was made in August 2005.

The amendment read: “A game apparatus includes an LCD and a touch panel placed on a top surface of the LCD. The player instructs an enemy character displayed on the LCD with the use of a stick to attack the enemy character. For example, in a case that the enemy character exists at a depth of a game screen, little damage is applied to the enemy character, and a weak vibration is applied to the game apparatus. Conversely, in a case that the enemy character exists at a front of the game screen, much damage is applied to the character, and a strong vibration is applied to the game apparatus. In either case, the vibrations are transmitted to the fingers or hands of the player via the stick.”
Earlier, in 2005, Nintendo added a “Rumble Pak” expansion to its original DS. This supported about forty games, but this is not compatible with the DSi.
The DS was launched originally in March 2005 in the UK. It then went on to become world’s best-selling portable console.
On the other hand the smaller DS Lite was came in June 2006 and in April 2009 was released the DSi.
From March 5, 2010 the DS Lite XL will go on sale.

Stopping R4 chips sale on e-bay and Amazon did not help much in piracy
Friday, February 19th, 2010
The deal of Nintendo with the major online merchant sites such as Amazon and Ebay to stop the selling of R4 chips has not done much to dampen the games’ piracy.
Piracy became easy with this chip. It goes into a cartridge slot of Nintendo DS and through that illegal downloaded games is easily played on the console.
Last year in the month of May both Amazon and eBay had agreed of changing the user policy in order to prevent the sale of modified chips on their sites.
Rose Lappin, the Australia managing director of Nintendo, said that the arrangement with the two retailing sites has not made much impact on the piracy front of the games.
After the introduction of R4 the company has seen a decline in the sales of the DS game sales. Though the two giant retailing websites is out of the picture, but still some smaller online retailers have been trying to make easy and fast cash by selling the modified chips.

DS Lite vs classic Nintendo
Friday, February 12th, 2010
Nintendo DS Lite is smaller than one third compared to the classic Nintendo DS and has a weight of less than 20%. Nintendo DS Lite features brighter screens and with four levels of brightness which give a higher gloss to the games.

With its fantastic look Nintendo DS Lite is not just the top of portable entertainment, but also a true masterpiece of design. Amazing screen brightness: where the old DS was causing visibility problems in the presence of soft lights, we can rejoice four adjustable levels of brightness for both screens.
This new version of the console will soon establish itself as the technological gadget to have at all costs. Moreover, it is a console that has managed to sell 13 million units around the world, and we do not doubt the new version will collect even greater consensus among the general public.
The layout of buttons in Nintendo DS is the same, changing only the position of the keys “select” and “start”, moved to the bottom right, but it lacks the power button, replaced by a lever to push (you have to push up a second and a half during ignition and shutdown) on the right side of the console.
