White Nintendo DS Lite systems still having left hinge cracks

Ever since its launch the Nintendo DS Lite has been suffering with some left hinge problems. Some gamers get a crack in their left hinge without an explanation. Even when you’re really careful with your Nintendo DS Lite it’s possible that you might get a crack in your DS Lite. Nintendo is replacing these units, but some gamers have had this problem several times before. It’s strange that they’re still having this problem so many months after the launch of the system. Only white Nintendo DS Lite handhelds seem to be having these problems.

My son’s nintendo ds has broken…it is the screen that is the problem. It was purchased in June 08.
Can I get a replacement under the year’s warranty??
