Why has the Nintendo DS done so well in the UK history
December 26th, 2009
It was too much assumed way back in the year 2005 that the Sony PSP may win the battle of the handheld games consoles. The reason behind this is that the PSP was sleek and have gorgeous widescreen display. Where as the Nintendo DS looked like a toy. Though the two screens were included but it was not enough to get anyone excited. However, the PSP has done well enough and it sold over 50m units. But the Nintendo was not so bad even. The ugly duckling has grown into a phenomenon.

Nintendo has now shifted over 100m units. In this recent trend, the Nintendo DS has overtook the PlayStation 2 and has become the biggest selling games console in the history of UK.
The big question arises that why has the Nintendo DS done so well?
There are three main factors to be credited. It has the ability to jab at a screen with a stylus and this was usually enough for gamers to attract. More to this the sleek and the minimal styling of the later models helped it to become more famous. And not to forget, the most important of all, the console has been popular due to the variety of content.
