Nintendo expects good sales during Christmas holidays

is the season of giving, but it is also the season of buying at some point. of America’s President is confident that lots of hardware will be purchased this holiday by gamers.

On Tuesday, while speaking at the BMO Capital Markets Annual Digital Entertainment Conference, the president expects a very good amount of sales performance in November and December.

Last year, in the Holiday season over half of hardware sales were made in November and December and it is clear that keeps the hope that history will repeat itself.

The is on the verge of launch and gamers are eagerly waiting to see a successor.

This holiday there are also going to be launched Donkey Kong Country Returns, Disney Epic Mickey and Golden Sun: Dark Dawn.

Nintendo to support non-3D console with new features, games

We all know that has been a great success. It has been sold in million since the original was launched. Later, the , and XL were launched to add more success.

Now, is set to be launched, which is the first portable console that can support 3D without wearing glasses or any other peripherals. looks further to give more to the gaming world with its .

The will be released in February in Japan and rest of the world will get it by March. With this launch, one thing is sure that the life cycle of family does not comes to an end.

Satoru Iwata, the boss of , said that they will continue supporting the non 3D-enabled console through new features, new games etc.

Iwata is very confident to the new features and new games even though 3D version of the is going to hit the market.

Nintendo makes loss in 6 fiscal months, first in 7 years

posted a loss for the first time in seven years. The loss is of six fiscal months that ended September 30, 2010. The main reason for the loss is the decline in handheld sales.

The sales, including the , and XL, fell from 11.7 million to 6.69 million globally as compared to the same period last year.

The sales steep decline makes sense as the market is close to saturation and also the of is also launching soon next year. So, gamers are waiting to bid their time for the new 3D handheld.

The sales also dropped in the said period to 4.97 million units from 5.75 million units.

The fall in sales of console also resulted in the fall of software sales.

More to this, the Yen has become stronger against the USD in last two years and this has left ’s net income to drop down up to 34 percent.

Nintendo unveils 3DS platform to stop illegal play

, as the report comes, has now tightened bolts on its anti-piracy measures. It has unveioled the handheld and this will surely ensure that the gamers only play the legal games.

This new platform is too tough to crack than what it was with the previous versions. It is in fact impervious to cracks from illegal downloaders.

Executive vice-president of THQ Ian Curran said, “The problem with the market in the last few years, particularly with , is that it’s just been attacked by piracy. It’s made it almost impossible to shift any significant volume. The combated it a little bit, but the has taken a step further.”
