Over 20% Japanese people owns DS
Thursday, May 14th, 2009
We all know better that Japanese gamers love Nintendo DS. But… did we ever imagined that the total number of DS units sold in there is equivalent to 20.5% of Japan’s population? This has been reported by a website.
The chart of this report was released by Nintendo recently and it shows that the percentage of a market’s population that owns a DS. The chart also explains succinctly just how bonkers the population of Japan has been for the handheld. Over 20 per cent of the population owning a DS? That’s really Crazy. It means that 1 out of 5 Japanese people. Make sure, it is not 1in 5 Japanese gamers. It is 1 in 5 Japanese people.

The fact is that 20 per cent of the population probably do not own a Nintendo DS. There, Japanese gamers have probably purchased multiple DS systems like the original DS Phat, DS Lite, DSi, and of course, the different colors and variants of the DS Lite.

Lime green DS Lite
Friday, May 1st, 2009
Did you ever purchased a gift for someone with whom you live with, and you had really “gifted” it so you could use it? This may be the case for when a mom buys a son/daughter this new version of the DS Lite.
The son/daughter may be immediately suspicious because he/she notices that the color of the DS is lime green. It’s a guarantee that any child who is seen in public with a lime green DS Lite will be called some sort of name by the end of the day. The child may start with the easy to use “limey-fruit” and will then shorten it to “fruit” in few days.
This new version of the game gadget that in fact should be called “The Housewives edition,” comes with Personal Trainer: Cooking. Yes, junior’s going to be completely addicted to that game.
Did I say that this version of the game also comes with a matching carrying case? Practically speaking, I never really use the carrying case, and I’m sure (guess of course) most teenage boys probably don’t either

DSi after a week
Monday, April 13th, 2009
It has been one week since the Nintendo DSi has been out and it is not a surprise that it is already selling well. Gamers may have been thinking either upgrading their DS/DS Lite to a DSi, or else jumping into the Nintendo DS game platform for the first time. Before doing so please check out the following Pros and Cons:
Pros:
The DS games gives a crisp resolution display at the larger size, with up to five levels of brightness.
The Nintendo DSi Shop delivers DSiWare games at only $2 minimum and up also. Now new games will be releasing each week and that too at a very low cost.
It is a real fun to use the camera effects of the DSi.
Another real fun is the audio and music.
It gets a storage solution for the first time. Gamers can now save games, pictures and music/sound.
Cons:
Gamers cannot play GBA game cartridges, no DS rumble support, and no Guitar Hero DS games.
There are no retail DSi exclusive games yet.
Transferring music files is a pain over here unless the music files are in AAC format. Other formats are not working.

Compare the old and new Nintendo… new features are cool
Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Old white Nintendo DS Lite if compared with the new Nintendo DSi. Then what happens. Just read on.
The brand new Nintendo DSi one has some cool new features. Yes, the camera and SD card slot is not there.
But it pinches to force yourself to purchase all new hardware to enjoy the new games. Now, hope so, it seems that Nintendo could be working on games that play on both the Nintendo DS and the DSi. These “DSi Enhanced” game cards of Nintendo will be playing normally on a regular DS or DS Lite of Nintendo. The additional features of these games are inserted into a DSi.
Nintendo DSi Hardware Group project leader Masato Kuwahara told to the media recently that gamers of Nintendo may be able to “create textures from photographs taken with the DSi camera. If gamers play the same game on the DS, they won’t be able to do that, but still be able to play the game.
Take for example this… gamers can now find a “DSi Enhanced” version of Animal Crossing: Wild World where gamers can take a picture of a pattern and of course it can be translated as new clothing for the characters or new wallpaper for the virtual home.
Yes, going forward… gamers may also now be able to partake in face-mapping for custom characters. This feature adds to the game experience but is not a required element.

Nintando DS Lite can be perfect Mother’s Day gift
Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Are you puzzled about what could be the best Mothers’ Day gift. The answer is why not a Nintendo DS Lite. Nintendo DS Lite is a hand held game system, you knows. It is only priced about $129. It is a great Mother’s Day gift for grandmother. Even for aunty, and is why it can be a Mother’s Day gift.

The original DS Lite was not so handy. It was big and clunky. The display resolution of this gaming system was terrible. Young gamers tossed it in and older users had never bothered with it. But now the Nintendo Corporation has dedicated time and effort to retool the hand-held and here they are.
Nintendo’s hand-held gaming system is now available straightforwardly with deck, documentation, dust cover and also with two stylus or pointers.
The instrument has 2 touch screens that is of high-resolution color displays. The display lighting is also adjustable and has a good battery-saver. The deck of the game is wallet shaped in a clamshell resilient plastic casing. When it is closed, it is only about 3×5 inches.
Gamers can manipulate the images with his or her fingers or with the provided stylus. The on and off is a slide and volume is on the edge of the machine.

In five years 100 milliion DS system shipped
Sunday, March 15th, 2009
Many of the critics scoffed with the unveiling of Nintendo DS at E3 2004. The prototype was not at all impressive. There were 2 tiny screens that seemed like a bad marketing gimmick and the touch controls had never been applied to the gaming. It was only limited to the Palm devices. Where are we now? Just have a look. Five years later, with hundred million DS systems shipped claims Nintendo.
That is nineteen million shy of the handheld record set by the Game Boy, and which includes shipments of the original DS, the DS Lite, and of course the DSi editions.
Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo told to the media that consumers have shown their love for Nintendo DS and that too 100 million times over. He also added that they are grateful that people of all ages continue to respond to their products, and they will continue to look for ways to please current gamers and create new ones.

The company also said that their 83 DS games have surpassed one million in sales. GameSpot also confirmed later that seven of the games have sold more than ten million in the global market. Those are Nintendogs, New Super Mario Bros, Brain Age, Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, Mario Kart DS, Brain Age 2, and Animal Crossing: Wild World.

What Happens to DS Lite the market will decide says Nintendo
Sunday, March 8th, 2009
Nintendo has earlier said it is the content to let the DS Lite continue selling alongside the DSi upon the latter’s release. Many is wondering about what the fate of the previous iteration of Nintendo’s successful handheld will be.

In the United Kingdom it seems that the developer is willing to just let the market decide on that. In an interview recently Nintendo UK General Manager David Yarnton said this.
He further said that they will let the market decide. He expects that some people will upgrade, but he also anticipate that they will win over people who were still undecided on DS. He adds that the extra features will help convince them. There’s an extra incentive.
He continues saying, “With the DSi we see multiple consumer types for it. As with everything now, we look at our target market being five to 85, offering different things for different people. The functions of the device really open the platform up to more consumers – it gives the DS format unlimited potential.”

Nintendo on the way of launching in US
Friday, February 20th, 2009
Nintendo is going to launch its latest version of the portable video game system in the United States. The expected date is April 5. The company will add 2 digital cameras to it and also an added feature of the ability to play with sound recordings.

The DSi that is at present available in its home country i.e. Japan will be costing $170 and will be available in 2 colors - black and blue. This is in fact the 3rd iteration of the most popular handheld gaming system on the planet. The DS Lite, its predecessor, comes at the cost of $130.
The new one that is going to be launched will be slimmer than the DS Lite, sports bigger screens and will include 2 digital cameras — one that will face outward and the other to point at the user when the device is flipped open. Nintendo likened them to a set of eyes.
The maker of Nintendo says, “If the touch screen gave Nintendo DS a sense of feel and the microphone allowed it to hear, the two cameras give DSi the sense of sight. With the use of the Nintendo DSi players can manipulate photos, mix all the images and even share them with friends.
The launch is announced when millions of people are turning to mobile games such as on the DS and on smart phones like Apple’s iPhone to themselves busy when free.
