Nintendo outsells competition nearly 2 to 1 last month
Tuesday, June 30th, 2009
Video game sales graph showed a southward ride by 23% in May. This has been revealed by latest data from NPD Group. The bright spot of this report is the ongoing domination by Nintendo, whose hardware and associated games outsold the competition by nearly 2 to 1.
The CNET’s Lance Whitney report says, “NPD blamed most of the decline on the lack of blockbuster games rather than the weak economy. The report noted that last year’s sales were boosted by the launch of popular software titles such as Grand Theft Auto IV. Nintendo’s Wii Fit also was a hot commodity in 2008.”

Nintendo DS leads the industry while other suffers
Sunday, June 14th, 2009
Nintendo DS has led the video game system sales of America in the month of May. It has sold 633,500 units. This is in fact a hike of 40% compared to the same month in 2008. The sales were split 369,000 and 244,000 of DSi and DS Lite respectively.

The sales of Wii console of Nintendo were down by 57% over May 2008 to 289,500 units. But, the sales of course pushed the console past the 20 million mark in the US after only 31 months on the market.
On the other hand the Xbox 360 suffered the least of the home consoles. It had only a 6% drop in sales over last year. It is a fact that this console is suffering and it shows just how much the US video game industry is suffering.
The total industry sales has dropped below $1 billion for the first time since August 2007.
The NPD Group’s analyst Anita Frazier says, “The video games industry continues to struggle with difficult comparisons to last year, and this is the first month that industry sales have dipped below $1 billion since August 2007. May is typically one of the lowest revenue-generating months in any given year for the industry in general.”

An interview clip of Nintendo President
Tuesday, June 9th, 2009
Let us check what the President of Nintendo, Saturo Iwata, has to say. In an interview to CNBC, he admitted that the company had scrapped a new handheld which they had not just been working on, but also had even completed it.

Now it appears, according to Iwata, that this handheld was going in a different direction than the DSLite and DSi. He said, “when we are launching new hardware, the most important thing is to sustain the momentum. If introducing new hardware won’t do anything to do that, well…”
Now it seems that as if they went with the DSi as it kept with the DS and thus would maintain the popularity of the system. The sale of DSi is of course impressive. One cannot help but only wonder as to what this other handheld was though. Let us take the flashback. Way back, DS first launched Nintendo claimed that they weren’t abandoning the GBA platform. The DS was simply another way to game. It seems now that this handheld fell more in line with the GBA or something, may be.

Nintendo rules three spots this month
Monday, May 25th, 2009
A more one month rolls by with good news for Nintendo. It tops the console sales charts again this time. It is not a surprising fact. But yes, this month Nintendo rules three spots instead of the usual two.
Apart from Nintendo Wii and DS Lite, which has taken the spots first and second on the list, the Nintendo DSi (recently launched) makes it the trifecta on the sales chart.
This marks the 1st month in short memory that the Nintendo Wii was not a number one, as the Nintendo DSi outsold all with a staggering 827,000 units. It outpaced the Wii at 340,000 and the DS Lite at 215,000.
It also means that the DS platform sold over a million units for the month. It made up 31% of all hardware sales in April. It is not at all hard to believe when the DSi sold 435,000 in the first week.

Nintendo sales up
Friday, May 22nd, 2009
In Japan the selling record was not so good for Nintendo because the PlayStation 3 solidly outsold the Nintendo Wii and also the PlayStation Portable overtook the Nintendo DS. But yes, the current situation for the Nintendo has been reversed. The Wii and DS is now becoming the best selling products in their categories.

The Nintendo DSi has been sold about 55,000 units in Japan from 27 April to 10 May and it was even the best selling videogame console.
There the PlayStation Portable was the 2nd with a sale unit of more than 43,000 units moved to gamers in the same period. The lead of Nintendo is even bigger because the Nintendo DS Lite has also moved some 7,821 units in the same period.
Sad story for the Wii and the PlayStation 3. They are no longer head to head. The Nintendo home console is up 24,397 units and the PlayStation 3 is only at 18,483. Xbox 360 has suffered the shame.

Over 20% Japanese people owns DS
Thursday, May 14th, 2009
We all know better that Japanese gamers love Nintendo DS. But… did we ever imagined that the total number of DS units sold in there is equivalent to 20.5% of Japan’s population? This has been reported by a website.
The chart of this report was released by Nintendo recently and it shows that the percentage of a market’s population that owns a DS. The chart also explains succinctly just how bonkers the population of Japan has been for the handheld. Over 20 per cent of the population owning a DS? That’s really Crazy. It means that 1 out of 5 Japanese people. Make sure, it is not 1in 5 Japanese gamers. It is 1 in 5 Japanese people.

The fact is that 20 per cent of the population probably do not own a Nintendo DS. There, Japanese gamers have probably purchased multiple DS systems like the original DS Phat, DS Lite, DSi, and of course, the different colors and variants of the DS Lite.

Use protector to protect your Nintendo DS Lite
Saturday, March 7th, 2009
If you are a be a bit of butterfingers and clumsily bumping or bruising your poor Nintendo DS Lite against each and every entity or else surface then you can possibly make contact with, you are probably going to require a good defence or protecting system against the forces of evil and the inanimate objects.
Put inside your Hori Nintendo DS Lite into a protector. A protector that is a solid, clear plastic and clam-shell case. This hard shell will henceforth cover your precious console and protects it from nicks, scratches, bumps and bruises. This protective and hard case cover is extremely easy to slip onto the DS Lite, as of course the DS fits into the plastic housing perfectly and ‘clips’ in to ensure it can’t slip out by itself and too easily.
