Nintendo sales up
Friday, May 22nd, 2009
In Japan the selling record was not so good for Nintendo because the PlayStation 3 solidly outsold the Nintendo Wii and also the PlayStation Portable overtook the Nintendo DS. But yes, the current situation for the Nintendo has been reversed. The Wii and DS is now becoming the best selling products in their categories.

The Nintendo DSi has been sold about 55,000 units in Japan from 27 April to 10 May and it was even the best selling videogame console.
There the PlayStation Portable was the 2nd with a sale unit of more than 43,000 units moved to gamers in the same period. The lead of Nintendo is even bigger because the Nintendo DS Lite has also moved some 7,821 units in the same period.
Sad story for the Wii and the PlayStation 3. They are no longer head to head. The Nintendo home console is up 24,397 units and the PlayStation 3 is only at 18,483. Xbox 360 has suffered the shame.

Thursday, May 14th, 2009
We all know better that Japanese gamers love Nintendo DS. But… did we ever imagined that the total number of DS units sold in there is equivalent to 20.5% of Japan’s population? This has been reported by a website.
The chart of this report was released by Nintendo recently and it shows that the percentage of a market’s population that owns a DS. The chart also explains succinctly just how bonkers the population of Japan has been for the handheld. Over 20 per cent of the population owning a DS? That’s really Crazy. It means that 1 out of 5 Japanese people. Make sure, it is not 1in 5 Japanese gamers. It is 1 in 5 Japanese people.

The fact is that 20 per cent of the population probably do not own a Nintendo DS. There, Japanese gamers have probably purchased multiple DS systems like the original DS Phat, DS Lite, DSi, and of course, the different colors and variants of the DS Lite.

Should we buy DSi or should we not
Saturday, February 21st, 2009
Estimated unit sales of Nintendo are very close to 100 million all around the world. This gaming instrument has prove to be the leading in the industry of the portable console market every time. Nintendo DSi, the second refresh of it, is starting to see the developers move in an evolutionary direction with its flagship handheld.

The Nintendo DSi has taken most of the features, which the Lite had to offer. It also adds new multimedia capabilities in the console. Nintendo DSi is now on sale in Japan. The sale started in November 1 last year. Already one million has been sold. Now the company has announced that DSi will start its sale in North America from April 5. Everyone asks the same and simple question, “Should I buy one?”
Let us take a look what exactly separates this new DSi from the DS Lite. The difference between the two portables is negligible if we talk in terms of actual form-factor. It is slightly slimmer, but we will not find massive change in size like we saw when Nintendo upgraded the actual DS to DS Lite. Both screens are a quarter of an inch larger.
