Nintendo sales takes big leap after retail price cut
Thursday, July 8th, 2010
Sales of Nintendo have taken a big leap, a leap of 40% every week since the trade price of Nintendo was lowered last month.
The current price of the handheld is £129.99 and it is being promoted to comsumers as part of a ‘Price Crash’ campaign.
Rob Saunders, head of communications of Nintendo, said: “Since the adjustment in trade price has been passed on to consumers, each of the previous three weeks have seen DSi sales increase by over 40 per cent week-on-week.”
The company, as it is usually, stressed that it does not directly dictate RRPs and the firm also stipulated that the price cut only applies to the DSi and not to others, the DS Lite and DSi XL.
For the past week the platform holder is running ‘Price Crash’ TV ads on many channels during prime time.
