Nintendo DS line tops Japanese hardware sales
Saturday, September 11th, 2010
For the week ended September 5, the Nintendo DS line tops the sales chart of Japanese hardware, announced by Media Created on Friday. The reason behind the Nintendo’s top status is the recent sales boost of PSP. It remained on the top of the individual hardware versions chart. With this, the Nintendo DS is above the overall handheld of Sony.
Capcom’s Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Ailu Village was relased last week when the PSP sales rose. The slower sales of the title this week mirror to the hardware’s return to #2.
Nintendo sold 39,936 units. DSi LL alone sold 18,929 units, the DSi and the DS Lite sold 16,968 and 4,039 units respectively.
From last week the sales of all the platforms remained consistent, apart from the PSP. It indicated the steady hardware sales and it left the rankings almost unchanged.

Why has the Nintendo DS done so well in the UK history
Saturday, December 26th, 2009
It was too much assumed way back in the year 2005 that the Sony PSP may win the battle of the handheld games consoles. The reason behind this is that the PSP was sleek and have gorgeous widescreen display. Where as the Nintendo DS looked like a toy. Though the two screens were included but it was not enough to get anyone excited. However, the PSP has done well enough and it sold over 50m units. But the Nintendo was not so bad even. The ugly duckling has grown into a phenomenon.

Nintendo has now shifted over 100m units. In this recent trend, the Nintendo DS has overtook the PlayStation 2 and has become the biggest selling games console in the history of UK.
The big question arises that why has the Nintendo DS done so well?
There are three main factors to be credited. It has the ability to jab at a screen with a stylus and this was usually enough for gamers to attract. More to this the sleek and the minimal styling of the later models helped it to become more famous. And not to forget, the most important of all, the console has been popular due to the variety of content.

The success of Nintendo DS is due to the broad appeal of its family-friendly titles.
Brain Training titles are among the biggest selling games on Nintendo DS. In this game the players are required to solve maths and also reasoning puzzles, and Nintendogs, in which people create and take care of virtual pets.
According to experts the simplicity of Nintendo DS is the key of success. It has only few buttons and it is in fact mainly controlled by poking and writing on a touchscreen with the help of a stylus. It is also appealing to those who are playing video games for the first time.
