Nintendo DS leads the industry while other suffers

has led the video game system sales of in the month of May. It has sold 633,500 units. This is in fact a hike of 40% compared to the same month in 2008. The sales were split 369,000 and 244,000 of and respectively.

The sales of of were down by 57% over May 2008 to 289,500 units. But, the sales of course pushed the past the 20 million mark in the after only 31 months on the market.

On the other hand the suffered the least of the home consoles. It had only a 6% drop in sales over last year. It is a fact that this is suffering and it shows just how much the video game industry is suffering.

The total industry sales has dropped below $1 billion for the first time since August 2007.

The Group’s analyst says, “The video games industry continues to struggle with difficult comparisons to last year, and this is the first month that industry sales have dipped below $1 billion since August 2007. May is typically one of the lowest revenue-generating months in any given year for the industry in general.”
