Friday, August 13th, 2010
Seems to be a tough time for the Nintendo. A slaes slump is plaguing the video game industry these days.
According to data, in July the video games sales and consoles were off 1% and this has happened in the fourth month in a row. The sales in United States dropped.
The sales of PlayStation 3 from Sony and that of Xbox 360 of Microsoft increased, but the sales of Nintendo’s Wii games fell reveals market research firm NPD Group Inc.
Analyst with Webush Securities Michael Pachter said, “Wii is responsible for all of the annual decline… Wii owners are buying fewer games per capita than people who own the other two consoles.”
The group also reports that the hardware sales are up. Ther has been a 12% jump in the sales of console in the month of July where as the sales of game fell 8%.
NPD’s game analyst Anita frazier said, “It’s the first time since September 2007, when Microsoft launched Halo 3, that the 360 was the top-selling hardware platform.”

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009
It seems that Japan is still interested in handhelds and in Wii Sports Resort. The chart shows that the Nintendo DS is the best sold gaming console. Through the chart it also seems that the Nintendo made game still leads the software charts with a very good margin.
46,855 units of DSi was sold in one week and its only rival, the PlayStation Portable from Sony, took the second place with sales figure of 32,849 units. The DS Lite is at 7,500 units in one week.
In the home gaming console the Nintendo Wii sold close to 25,000 units and it was on the top. It is more than the PS3 and the Xbox 360 managed to sell together.
The big news is from the software charts in which Wii Sports Resort sold more 155,000 copies in the second week of its shelf life. The overall sale of it is more than half a million units.

Nintendo DS leads the industry while other suffers
Sunday, June 14th, 2009
Nintendo DS has led the video game system sales of America in the month of May. It has sold 633,500 units. This is in fact a hike of 40% compared to the same month in 2008. The sales were split 369,000 and 244,000 of DSi and DS Lite respectively.

The sales of Wii console of Nintendo were down by 57% over May 2008 to 289,500 units. But, the sales of course pushed the console past the 20 million mark in the US after only 31 months on the market.
On the other hand the Xbox 360 suffered the least of the home consoles. It had only a 6% drop in sales over last year. It is a fact that this console is suffering and it shows just how much the US video game industry is suffering.
The total industry sales has dropped below $1 billion for the first time since August 2007.
The NPD Group’s analyst Anita Frazier says, “The video games industry continues to struggle with difficult comparisons to last year, and this is the first month that industry sales have dipped below $1 billion since August 2007. May is typically one of the lowest revenue-generating months in any given year for the industry in general.”
